Roman ruins

S and Aunt P

After Grandma and Grandpa left to catch their plane, we had to decide what to do with the rest of the day. Since it is fairly close, we went to the Augusta Raurica Roman ruins and museum. The museum focused on the lives of Roman children, which was fun. It also had a huge display of silver. Outside there was a model of how the city would have looked. T especially enjoyed the Roman house, where he was able to test out the dining sofas, the bathtubs, and the beds.

The bathtub had a cut out to show the fires below which would heat the water.

T must remember something from our trip to Rome, because when he saw this figure over the bath tub he immediately put his hand in it, like the Mouth of Truth.

T couldn't wait to get on the theater's stage.

Aunt P noticed this sign for the rest rooms, based on a figure in the Roman house. The toilet was in the kitchen next to the stove because waste water would be available for flushing there.

Before going home we walked down to town to see the old city walls and to see the Rhine and look over to Germany.
