Finally Felsenegg

Post by R!

On Wednesdays S and I only have half days at school. So we decided to meet our grandparents at Zurich Hauptbahnhof and bring them up to Uetliberg to finally do the Uetliberg-Felsenegg planet walk.

We didn't have the littles with us, so we had extra time to walk instead of playing at the playground. We used the extra time to climb up the viewing tower. We could see the mountains way in the distance and tried to identify them from the maps up there.

Looking back toward the viewing tower.

We took the stairs down from the viewing tower and got a bit of a head start on the walk. It was a nice clear day, but sadly that also meant that it was hot. We stopped in the shade by the dandelion fields, Dandyland, to refill our water bottles. Grandma and Grandpa had some trail mix in their bag that they kindly shared. And S brought out the lollipops from our hiking bag.

The walk was nice and had plenty of shade for the beginning part. Then it opened up into huge fields and farms. The farmland was flat enough that you could easily see to the hills and mountains on the other side. We were right on the ridge of a hill, so we could see Zurich on our left for a lot of the walk.

When we finally got to Felsenegg we were relieved. We found our way onto the crowded cable bar (S called it cable car 40 because it reminded her of bus 40 in Rome where she spent the ride in a drunk's armpit.) We got to the bottom and made our way to the train station and had another snack on the train home.

Grandma and Grandpa came back to our apartment for dinner. We ate outside since it was such good weather.
