Last week the littles and I went to Frick to see the cherry blossoms. It was just a nice easy walk with pretty views. T wants to go back when the cherries are ripe. I was afraid that the kids would get a little bored, but there was plenty to interest them along the way.
I am vindicated! This water fountain is definitely not for drinking!
Though S points out that the others must be, or they would also be labelled, "Kein Trinkwasser."
Under a row of trees there was a little table and chair. T really wanted to sit, but he only got to for a short time before L became a selfish brute and pushed him off instead of sharing. She got a turn and then was removed so T could have his chance. She had quite a tantrum, which made it not so nice for T. When it was time to move on she jumped into the chair and wouldn't budge. Eventually I walked away and hoped she'd come running. She didn't. That girl is stubborn! I finally had to stop and wait when she was almost out of sight. When she did get up I thought she would be nervous and would run to us. No. She just strolled along, arms swinging, and singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" as loudly as she could. In the picture below (zoomed way in and cropped) you can see from her posture she isn't going anywhere until she is done sitting in that chair. T was a very good sport, and was later praised and promised he could pick any chocolate bar he wants from Migros, something he did once before and has wanted to do again for a long time.
Beehives. A farm was selling honey, but I couldn't figure out where so we didn't get any.
This picnic table by the porto potty (disguised as an old-fashioned outhouse) was quite a hot spot. We saw horseback riders, this tractor with a kid in the back, and L put on a show for some elderly hikers arriving for a picnic when she ran away from me bare bottomed after insisting on trying out the potty.
A bouquet from T. There were dandelions, buttercups, and little daisies everywhere. The kids picked so many flowers! A man passing by showed T how to whistle through a dandelion stem. L decorated the stroller. Here she is below, gathering supplies.
