TWO POSTS in one day! Don't miss the other one. Eventually I may backdate that one, since it is about yesterday, but for now it's not obvious there are two posts. :)
There is no childcare on the weekends, so we split up today. After a huge lateish breakfast I hung out in the hotel room with the littles for a while watching cartoons and the Olympics before we went outside to play in the snow. We played for longer than I thought they would, then T decided he was hungry and wanted to go inside for lunch. However, the hotel doesn't serve lunch and I didn't have anything in the room. So we started trekking through town in search of the restaurant where we got crepes last time. Because of the snow and slush everywhere we took an easier route through town, but that left me a little disoriented.
The walk was also hard because L would go on strike. I would carry her for a while and expect her to walk a little on the easy parts. She caught on to that pretty quickly, though, and refused to move. I walked about ten feet ahead of her to try to force her to follow, but she wouldn't budge and immediately drew a concerned crowd. Next cycle she took it even further by bending at the waist and resting her head on the ground, a perfect little triangle.
NOT MOVING
Finally, I thought I should call E. He and the girls had gone skiing and I figured it was time for their lunch. It turns out they were just arriving at the crepe place and we were only half a block away. R came to meet and direct us. So through good luck we were all able to have lunch together. And I had help bringing the littles back up up up hill to the the hotel. R had already decided she had enough skiing and was on her way back anyway. I carried L home and R pushed, pulled, dragged, and harassed T.
R fills in the details on skiing:
When we first got to the slopes we went to the smaller beginner slope to get back in the swing of things. We played follow the leader one time with each of us leading, then did a last run to build up momentum to get across the bridge to the taller slope.
When there, we took the T-bar through the trees up to the top and headed down, once again following, but not quite as well considering each of us had their best route to get down safely and happily. We did two more runs, but the new snow and falling powder made it hard to get down without getting your ski caught in the snow. That's my opinion. I like packed powder, but Daddy likes new snow. I'd had enough so we decided to all go and get lunch at the crepes place. Then I would go back to the hotel and Daddy and S would go down to ski more.
I remember seeing that "I'm not moving " look from from my own daughter at about the same age ! It looks adorable on my grand-daughter!!!! Hope you have a wonderful vacation. Love XXXXXOOOOOGrammie
